For domestic flights using the Airbus A320 fleet, the free checked baggage allowance has been adjusted from 15 kg to a maximum of 10 kg per passenger. This means passengers experience a reduction of 5 kg, or 33 percent, from the previous allowance. Considering that most of Citilink’s fleet consists of A320 aircraft, this policy will affect the majority of passengers.

Checked Baggage for ATR 72-600 Fleet

The good news is that passengers flying on the ATR 72-600 fleet are not affected by this change. The free checked baggage allowance remains 10 kg, in line with the previous policy. The ATR 72-600 fleet typically serves short-haul regional routes with fewer passengers compared to the A320.

Cabin Baggage Remains Unchanged

For cabin baggage capacity, there are no changes at all. All passengers on all Citilink flights, whether using the A320 or ATR 72-600 fleet, will continue to receive a free cabin baggage allowance of 7 kg. The maximum cabin baggage dimensions also remain the same: 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm for A320 aircraft and 41 cm x 34 cm x 17 cm for ATR 72-600 aircraft.

When Does This New Policy Take Effect?

The new policy applies to ticket purchases or Date of Issue (DoI) starting from March 1, 2026, onward. This means that if you purchase a ticket on or after March 1, 2026, you will automatically receive baggage allowance according to the new policy: 10 kg for A320 flights (or 15 kg for LinkMiles members).

The flight date is not relevant to this policy. What matters is the ticket purchase date. So even if you are flying in June or July 2026, if the ticket was purchased after March 1, 2026, the new policy will apply.
