A Stunning Review of SEA Aquarium Singapore: What’s Inside This Marine Wonder?

When SEA Aquarium Singapore officially opened in 2012, it briefly held the title of the world’s largest aquarium. Although it was surpassed by Chimelong Ocean Kingdom in Hengqin, China, in 2014, SEA Aquarium remains the largest aquarium in Southeast Asia today.

Home to over 100,000 marine animals from more than 1,000 species, the SEA Aquarium is divided into seven thematic zones, each offering a unique perspective on marine biodiversity and conservation.

The Seven Zones of SEA Aquarium Singapore

The diverse collection of marine life at SEA Aquarium Singapore is divided into seven zones; Shipwrecked!, School of Fish, Ocean Diversity, Open Ocean Habitat, Quirky Adaptations, Underwater City, and Apex Predators of the Sea.

1. Shipwrecked!

One of the largest zones in the aquarium, Shipwrecked! recreates a shipwreck site turned coral reef that serves as a vibrant home for countless sea creatures.

It also hosts the popular Dive Feeding event every day at 10:30 AM, where visitors can watch divers feed the marine animals inside the massive tank.

2. School of Fish

This zone allows visitors to learn about marine life records, Singapore's marine biodiversity, and even touch some of the creatures at the Discovery Pool. It features over 5,000 fish swimming in harmony.

3. Ocean Diversity

Marine life goes beyond fish! In this zone, you’ll spot colorful fish, octopuses, dolphins, and even over 1,000 jellyfish gracefully floating through the water.

4. Open Ocean Habitat

With more than 40,000 marine creatures from 120 species, this awe-inspiring zone includes the Ocean Dome, where sea animals swim above your head—offering a truly immersive experience.

5. Quirky Adaptations

This zone showcases unique and bizarre marine creatures, including the beautifully dangerous Poison Arrow Frog—an amphibian known for its vibrant yet toxic skin.

6. Underwater City

A more educational zone, Underwater City explains the importance of coral reefs to marine ecosystems and how we can protect them. It’s both informative and visually engaging.

7. Apex Predators of the Sea

Home to over 100 sharks across 12 species, this zone gives visitors a thrilling look at the top predators of the ocean—majestic and powerful in every movement.
