Christmas & New Year 2025 Promo: Many Airlines Offer Discounts on Domestic Flights!

Unlike previous years where domestic flight ticket prices usually surged during the Christmas and New Year holidays, the 2025 holiday season brings a welcome change. On November 28, 2024, Indonesia’s newly inaugurated President Prabowo Subianto, through the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), called on local airlines to reduce their ticket prices by up to 10 percent.

This marks the first time in Indonesian aviation history that domestic ticket prices have decreased during a high-demand period. It’s a significant shift that benefits travelers planning year-end trips, making holiday travel more affordable for the general public.

Domestic Flight Ticket Prices Drop by 10 Percent

The Ministry of Transportation officially announced a 10 percent price reduction on domestic flights for the 2025 Christmas and New Year holiday season. This policy applies to ticket purchases made up to December 19, 2024, for flights scheduled between December 19, 2024, and January 3, 2025.

This initiative is intended to reduce the financial burden of travel during peak holiday periods. The policy will be implemented at airports across Indonesia, and several local airlines have already confirmed their participation.

Citilink has started applying the discounted fares since late November 2024. Several domestic routes are included in the promotion, such as:

  • Lombok (LOP) – Bali (DPS)

Special fares with Citilink start at IDR 488,000 and can be booked directly via Citilink’s official website or app.

TransNusa has also confirmed it will implement the government’s directive by lowering various ticket components, including fuel surcharges, airport service charges (PJP2U, PJP4U), and adjustments based on avtur prices at specific airports.

Examples of reduced fuel surcharge fees on TransNusa routes include:

  • Jakarta (CGK) – Bali (DPS): from IDR 135,000 to IDR 27,000

In addition, from November 29 to December 1, 2024, Garuda successfully held the Garuda Indonesia Travel Festival (GATF), offering exclusive discounts and travel deals.

AirAsia

AirAsia has reduced domestic ticket prices by 10 percent, covering components such as fuel surcharges, passenger service charges (PJP2U), landing services, and other operational fees. The airline has assured passengers that these reductions will not compromise service quality.
