Recently, Disneyland Paris successfully set a new world record with its spectacular drone show held on Monday, July 15, 2024.
Disney theme parks have long been renowned for their unique entertainment, particularly their dazzling nighttime shows featuring impressive visuals and special effects. Now, Disneyland Paris has taken this tradition to a whole new level.
Spectacular Drone Show Lights Up Disneyland Paris
On that Monday, Disneyland Paris staged a breathtaking drone performance featuring the head of Mickey Mouse created by 1,571 drones, officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest airborne fictional character display.
The drone show was held to celebrate France’s national holiday, Bastille Day, on July 14. The 1,571 drones were flown to form Mickey Mouse’s head directly above Sleeping Beauty Castle, illuminating the night sky over Paris.
In addition, the 12-minute evening show showcased Disney films inspired by France. It highlighted French culture, featuring iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral, along with scenes from Disney and Pixar movies like “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “The Aristocats,” and “Ratatouille.”
On Bastille Day, Disneyland Paris also presented its newly launched Disney Electrical Sky Parade, introduced earlier in 2024. This parade featured over 500 drones synchronized with lasers, video projections, lights, and fountains, set against the backdrop of Sleeping Beauty Castle.
The parade included illuminated floats representing beloved icons from the classic Main Street Electrical Parade, such as Mickey Mouse’s train, Elliott the dragon from “Pete’s Dragon,” and Cinderella’s carriage—all brought to life in the Parisian night sky.
Looking ahead, Disneyland Paris plans to be even more innovative with drone technology. They envision creating new advancements, such as fleets of drones capable of producing increasingly complex and dynamic shows, further elevating the quality of storytelling in the future.
