Good news for tourists planning to travel to Thailand! Starting this September, the Thai government is launching a new program that allows international tourists to get free domestic flight tickets to explore various destinations within the country.
Buy International, Free Thailand Domestic Flights
Named Buy International, Free Thailand Domestic Flights, this program is the latest initiative by the Thai government to attract more international tourists to visit less popular tourist destinations.
Through this program, up to 200,000 tourists who purchase international flight tickets to Thailand are entitled to free domestic flight tickets.
This means that after landing in Bangkok or other major cities, you can immediately continue your journey to other destinations such as Sukhothai, southern Chiang Mai, or Krabi at no additional cost. The program is expected to make traveling in Thailand more affordable and enjoyable, while also encouraging tourists to explore more regions of the country.
List of Airlines Participating in This Program
The program is scheduled to run from September to November 2025. Several airlines operating in Thailand have also agreed to participate, including:
- Bangkok Airways
- Nok Air
- Thai AirAsia
- Thai Airways
- Thai Lion Air
- Thai Vietjet
Terms & Conditions That Tourists Must Meet
To obtain free domestic flight tickets, tourists visiting Thailand must meet several terms and conditions as follows:
- This program is only valid for tourists who have not previously purchased domestic tickets.
- Each tourist is entitled to one free round-trip domestic ticket, including 20 kg of baggage.
- Claims are made when booking international flight tickets directly through the airline or an online travel agent.
- The Thai government provides a subsidy of 1,750 baht (approximately IDR 889,000) for a one-way ticket, or 3,500 baht (approximately IDR 1,780,000) for a round-trip ticket.
It should be noted that you cannot get a free domestic ticket if you have already purchased an international ticket to Thailand. This program is also only applicable for foreign tourists, not Thai citizens.
Interestingly, before Thailand, Japan had already implemented a similar program through Japan Airlines (JAL).
However, until now, there is no certainty whether this program has officially started. According to the latest information, the proposed Buy International, Free Thailand Domestic Flights program is still awaiting approval from the cabinet.
