Malaysia Airlines Expands to Three New Asian Destinations in 2026

Malaysia Airlines is significantly expanding its East Asia network in 2026 with the launch of three new routes.

The national carrier of Malaysia will begin services to Shenzhen and Changsha in China, while also restoring flights to Fukuoka in Japan after nearly two decades.

Tickets have been available for booking since April 3, 2026.

Three New Routes Coming in 2026

With the addition of Shenzhen and Changsha, the airline's network in China will grow to nine destinations.

Kuala Lumpur–Shenzhen (SZX)

Daily flights (7 times per week) will commence on July 1, 2026. Shenzhen is a global technology hub in southern China, often referred to as the "Silicon Valley of China."

The city also serves as a convenient gateway to neighboring Hong Kong.

Kuala Lumpur–Changsha (CSX)

Daily flights (7 times per week) will begin on July 8, 2026.

Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province, is known for its spicy cuisine, over 3,000 years of history, and access to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, famous for inspiring the landscapes featured in the film Avatar.

Kuala Lumpur–Fukuoka (FUK)

Flights will operate five times weekly (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) starting September 2, 2026.

This marks the return of the route after it was last served in September 2006, ending a nearly 20-year hiatus.

Malaysia Airlines will be the only airline offering nonstop flights between Kuala Lumpur and Fukuoka.

Why These Three Destinations?

Each destination was selected for its unique combination of business opportunities, tourism appeal, and cultural significance.

  • Shenzhen: A leading technology and business hub with easy access to Hong Kong and Macau.
