Starting November 20, 2025, the Chinese government officially introduced a digital arrival card system for foreign visitors, replacing the traditional paper arrival form. This new system allows travelers to complete the arrival process online—faster, simpler, and more efficient.
Why This Change Was Introduced
The update aims to speed up immigration procedures and reduce long queues at the airport. Travelers can now complete their arrival details before departure, and upon landing, simply present a QR code instead of filling out a manual form.

How to Fill Out China’s Digital Arrival Card
Here are the steps you need to follow:
Access the Official Website or App
Open the official National Immigration Administration (NIA) website on Mobile or Desktop. Alternatively, use the WeChat or Alipay mini-program.
Upload Your Passport Photo
Upload the passport identity page. The system will automatically extract some of your information.
Fill in Personal and Flight Details
Enter your name, gender, date of birth, nationality, and passport number. Then provide information about your mode of transport, flight/train/ship number, and point of entry (airport, station, or port).
Complete Your Travel Information in China
Add your purpose of visit (tourism, transit, business), accommodation address in China, and transit itinerary if applicable.
Agree to the Declaration and Submit
Review everything, then click submit. You will receive a digital arrival card with a QR code—save or print it, and show it during immigration checks.
If you don’t have time to fill it out before your flight, there are still options available: you can complete it at the airport through a self-service kiosk or by using a paper form (during the transition period).
Who Is Required to Fill It Out?
All foreign visitors entering China are required to complete the digital arrival card, except: permanent residents with special IDs, holders of Hong Kong/Macau residence permits, transit passengers who do not go through immigration, and several other special categories.
Filling out the digital arrival card usually requires internet access as soon as you land. To avoid the hassle of searching for airport Wi-Fi, you can use a China eSIM from Global Komunika. Just install it before departure, and you’ll be connected immediately upon arrival. It’s convenient for immigration access, maps, and travel apps.

What Is Its Relation to the China Visa?
For Indonesian citizens who require a visa to enter China, completing the China arrival card is an additional requirement, not a replacement for a visa. Make sure your visa and other documents (passport, return ticket, accommodation proof) are prepared before departure.
